As a mother who experienced losing four children, complicated pregnancies, and a child with arthrogryposis, I thought I had seen it all... until. The Diagnosis. Autoimmunity. Type 1 Diaetes. My son. It knocked me down and forced me to rethink - EVERYTHING. The first year was a whirlwind as we travelled from coast to coast to get answers to WHY did this happen? How did we miss the clues? What could we have done to prevent this? Why? Why? Why!?!

My gut told me we would not find answers in the conventional system and we sought out help through natural routes. After a year of struggling to find the answers I was looking for, and strong encouragement from our family physician, I took the plunge and started formal education in functional medicine. From the very first class fireworks began going off as dots were finally getting connected and missing pieces which we thought were lost for good were found! My son’s health transformed - his honeymoon extended 2 years. His list of chronic health problems vanished. We are left with diabetes, but the fight is not over. It has only just begun!

What I came to realize is we are approaching health the wrong way. We have to rethink - What is health? What is medicine? What is Dis-ease anyway? The fight is to empower others to take charge of their health, bring awareness to the hope which lies inside of each of us. The power to heal and reverse chronic illness. The fight is to restore health and vitality in our children. To put an end to the trend of our children being in worse health than the generation before.
